Statistics [Per Game]: 31.3 points, 5.2 assists, 7.8 rebounds. PER of 30.53 and is shooting 50% from the field.
We’re running out of superlatives to describe KD’s current tear. He’s one 30-plus point game away from joining Kobe Bryant and LeBron James as the only players in the past decade to put together a double-digit game streak of 30-point scoring games. What Durant is doing right now is creating the sort of separation between himself and the pack, James included, that could make it virtually impossible for anyone to overtake him. He’s making a legitimate case for himself right now as the top overall player in the league.
Statistics [Per Game]: 26.0 points, 6.5 assists, 6.9 rebounds. PER of 29.00 and is shooting 58% from the field.
James is getting a taste of his own medicine these days from Durant. Now he knows what it feels like to play at en elite level and have someone else playing just as well — or better — every single night. It doesn’t take away from the fact that James continues to have an absolutely stellar season, doing basically everything for the Heat while Dwyane Wade works through his maintenance program. James will have to be careful not to get run down in the second half of the season while also trying to do as much as humanly possible to keep the Heat in the hunt for that No. 1 spot in the East.
Honorable Mentions: LaMarcus Aldridge, Paul George, Tony Parker, Stephen Curry and Blake Griffin.
